Mentors

Dr. N. S. Vyas- Head, Department of Mechanical engineering IIT Kanpur

Dr. Vyas is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. He is also the Mission Co-ordinator of Technology Mission on Railway Safety (TMRS) and head of Nuclear Engineering and Technology (NET) Programme, 4-i and Vibration lab. India’s first ever Nano Satellite launch programme is being carried out under his guidance.

Dr. Anjan Kumar Gupta, Department of Physics IIT Kanpur

Dr. Anjan Kumar Gupta joined the department of Physics at IIT Kanpur in 2003. He received his Ph.D. in 2001 from the University of Kentucky (USA) on Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) studies of high Tc superconductors. Other than studying some cuprate superconductors with STM he also developed a compact low temperature STM with a novel design. He was a post-doctoral researcher in the mesoscopic physics group of CRTBT-CNRS, Grenoble (France), where he worked on superconducting proximity effect using a 60mK-STM. In Grenoble, he was also involved in developing a combined AFM/STM for studying some hybrid surfaces.

Dr. Partha Sarathi Sensarma, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur

Dr. Sensarma is a faculty member at the Department of Electrical Engineering. His interests are in the area of FACTS devices, power quality and power electronic applications to power systems. Before joining IIT, Dr. Sensarma has worked as scientist at ABB Corporate Research Ltd., Switzerland where he carried out projects on IGBT gate drives, new current sensors and led pre-study project on FACTS applications.
